David Kilmartin was born in and still lives in Adelaide, South Australia, on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. He is the proud descendant of migrants to Australia from County Clare, Ireland, and from Wales, Scotland and England. He trained as an engineer but his passion has always been for reading and writing as an avenue for understanding and communicating and sharing what it means to be part human, part divine. As with all of us, David is a product of his upbringing and environment, of the people he has met and loved and laughed with and been disappointed by, hurt by and gotten angry with, and those in turn whom he has disappointed and annoyed and angered and made laugh. The beauty he sees in the natural landscape, the built environment and the spiritual dimension all around continue to intrigue, inspire and give impetus to reflecting and putting pen to paper.
Is there anything better than gathering with family and friends, over food and drinks, to share our experiences of being human? My chap book “Humans, being.” is a distillation of one such (fictional) gathering. I hope our words inspire you to put pen to paper. ~David Kilmartin |
